In Ancient Egypt, divine kingship centered on the belief that the Pharaoh was a living god, the earthly manifestation of Horus and the son of the sun god Ra, who controlled the state's political, religious, and economic aspects. The Ghana Empire, conversely, did not have divine kings but a political structure with kings holding significant political and economic power, though not necessarily divine in the Egyptian sense. The key difference is that Egyptian rulers were considered gods, whereas Ghanaian rulers were powerful political and economic figures, whose authority derived from their control of trade and military strength rather than inherent divinity.
