Slave Narratives, Volume II: Arkansas Narratives, Part 2 continues the invaluable WPA Federal Writers' Project effort to preserve firsthand accounts from formerly enslaved men and women. These personal testimonies, recorded in the 1930s, offer a direct, unfiltered connection to America's past-capturing powerful memories of daily life under slavery, family struggles, labor conditions, racial violence, and the long road toward emancipation and survival.
