Feeding Frenzy
Throughout human history, the worst abuses of human beings have been perpetrated by people who acted in groups. We have long been aware of this fact, but the atrocities of the Holocaust drove social psychologists to identify the precise factors that lead to the appalling behavior committed by people in groups...behavior they would never commit as individuals. Combining science and storytelling, Feeding Frenzy explores this "Recipe for the Perpetration of Evil" - that is, the specific ingredients that produce the antisocial actions of human groups, actions that we might call "social vampirism." Feeding Frenzy then describes a specific vaccine/antidote that we can derive from this poisonous recipe, and it concludes by suggesting some methods for healing ourselves and our societies after we have been the victims (and even the perpetrators) of social vampirism.
